Scary Skeleton Cookies

Looking for some Halloween fun? Try making these easy scary skeleton cookies!


  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 packages vanilla sugar (or replace with 1 tsp lemon extract)
  • white fondant
  • black icing
  • candy eyes
  • a sprinkling of icing sugar for rolling out of fondant


Mix butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and vanilla sugar. Alternate adding a cup of flour and a tsp baking powder until the final cup flour. Then mix with hands until dough is formed.

Roll out on floured surface and cut out cookies.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes.

Roll out fondant on a thin sprinkling of icing sugar. Using same cookie cutter, cut out fondant and place on top of warm cookie.

Bake another 2 minutes at 300 degrees so that fondant sticks to cookie.

Decorate using black icing and candy eyes!
